Jamie Nieto was born in Seattle, Washington and was raised as an only child in a single parent home in Sacramento, California. He’s a 2xOlympian, actor, writer and producer.
After high school, Nieto attended Sacramento City College, and Eastern Michigan University where he earned a full scholarship in athletics. Jamie excelled at Eastern Michigan and holds the EMU indoor and outdoor school records in the High Jump. He is also a 3-Time All American athlete who later earned his spot on the 2004 United States Olympic Team in Athens, Greece after winning the National Championships in his home town of Sacramento. Jamie was later inducted into Sacramento City College and Eastern Michigan’s Hall Of Fame. Then made the 2012 London Olympic team and retired in 2013.
As a High Jumper, Nieto’s career has taken him to over 40 different countries around the world. He has participated in 3 World Championships, 3 Pan American Games and won 4 National Championships. Jamie is known as one the worlds best High Jumpers and ranked top 10 in the world numerous times throughout his career.
In 2007, while Jamie was competing, he decided to pursue his childhood love for movies, acting, producing, and writing. 2009 marked the year of Nieto’s first feature film “The Encounter” which has been ranked top ten faith base film of all time. He has had recurring roles on Bounce TV’s “Family Time” as the bartender and Netflix’s Sci-Fi called, “AWAY” playing Travis Parker, opposite of Josh Charles and Hillary Swank. Currently Jamie has a recurring role on Starz hit series, “Raising Kanan,” where he plays a retired gangster named De-Mo who is now in a wheelchair.
In April of 2016, Jamie suffered a serious injury resulting in paralysis while doing a back flip. He was told that he would never walk again, but he defied his doctor’s predictions, to walk his wife-to-be, 150 steps down the aisle at their emotional wedding ceremony that was shared with the world through various outlets and an ESPN special feature.
Nieto’s passion and drive for success is uncanny. He has developed several original pilots, which includes a gritty crime drama, he wrote and starred in called, “Blood Brothers” and currently writes for one of the number one rated shows on Bounce TV called “Family Time” and another show called “In The Cut.” Jamie Nieto is continuing his road to recovery and is living his dreams of acting, writing, producing and NOT letting anything get in his way.
